USPS Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic Policy – March 6, 2020

“Please immediately review the attached 2020 Postal Service Pandemic Influenza Plan (PIP), which establishes a baseline of Postal Service policies and procedures for preparedness, response and recovery from any infectious disease outbreak. Although it is not specific to the COVID-19 outbreak, those policies and procedures are generally applicable to a potential COVID-19 pandemic, pursuant to the current advice provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Pay special attention to the Postal Service Planning section that starts on page 4, as this addresses protection of postal employees during a pandemic, maintenance of essential functions during times of significant absenteeism, communication of guidance to stakeholders during a pandemic, and support for the overall federal response to a pandemic.”
